My House

           I have a very nice house, with a big yard and a playhouse, a large basement with lots of room to play, appropriately sized rooms, and so much more. Here is a little bit about what my house looks like.

           First, I will start with the front yard and the front of the house. There are bushes on both sides of the house. If you are looking at the front of the house, you will see that the two-car driveway and garage are on the far-left side. Beside the driveway – a little to the right – there is an about three-four ft high brick wall (sort of rounded) with space on both sides for people to walk through. Behind the wall, there are two windows, from which you can see into the dining room. If you look a little farther to the right, you’ll see the walkway leading to a little step up to the front porch, which is where the door is. Still a little farther to the right, there are some rocks with flower bushes growing out of them. Behind the bushes, there are two more windows looking into the office. Since our house has two floors, a little way up you can see four more windows, each above the bottom ones. Above the top window is our steep roof. Above the garage is a lower roof, which is a little bit less steep. Most of the front yard is just grass, except for the big pretty tree with rocks and bushes surrounding it.

             Before I talk about the inside of my house, I should start in the backyard. First, you should know that we do not have a fence, so our backyard and our neighbor’s backyard connect; however, we do not usually go into their yard unless we need to because it is still their property. Starting on the far-left, there are two medium-size trees. The first tree has bright green leaves, with pink and white flowers in the spring. Since it is a great climbing tree with strong, low branches, we love to hang out on it when it is nice out. The other tree is a little to the right, not too far away from the first tree. It has dark purple leaves and produces cherries in the fall. It isn’t a good tree to climb on, but it does have little, tiny white flowers in the spring, which I love about it. More to the right, there is another tree, but it is smaller, and is definitely not a good tree to climb. It has little helicopter-like flowers and small green leaves. Behind it is our big back porch, with a Trager and a glass table. Still farther to the right is our trampoline, a weeping willow, and our wooden playhouse that we don’t play in much because there are always wasps in it. We absolutely love the weeping willow because it is so big, and it drops these branches that look like whips. I appreciate our backyard for many reasons, and I am glad we have it because it helps open our imaginations.

            Next, as I move our tour into the house, I will start at the front, when you walk through the front door, and move to the back door. When you first walk into the house, in front of you, there is a small closet on your right, and a short open hallway on your left, but they are still both in front of you. The floor is made up of light-golden-orangish colored wood planks. To your right is the dining room, which has a chandelier above the pretty wood table and chairs, and gray, square floor tiles. There are shelves and pots of plants and pictures everywhere, which makes it look beautiful. Behind the table are two low cabinets, which we put our board and card games in. Above that is a little space with candles in it, and two more glass cabinets with glass jars and glass cups. To your left is our office, with glass two big glass doors that are not at all soundproof. In the office, there are lots of drawers and nice light and dark wood furniture to store all our papers and other school and work supplies. The office is the first room you will see with carpets, which are light gray. If you go down the “short open hallway” I was talking about, you will see that in the middle of it is a stairway going upstairs. If you walk straight and look left, you will see the living room. The living room has light gray carpets, a dark brown couch and big chair, a nice big fireplace with a shelf above it with pictures, and a large TV on a nice, dark wood shelf, also with pictures. Above the couch is a giant square window looking out to the backyard. Behind you is an open space with the back door on your left side and the pantry and cabinets filled with medicine. In front of you is a good-size counter, and the kitchen behind it. The counter circles almost all the way around. It contains a big sink, a microwave, an oven, and a refrigerator. The garage door leads into the kitchen. If you walk through the open space, almost into the kitchen, and turn right, there is a short hallway leading into the dining room. In the hallway, on your right is the basement door and on your left is a small half-bath, that you can barely get into without hitting the toilet with the door.

            Next, I will talk about upstairs. When you first walk up the stairs, to your right is a blue-painted room with Mario toys, Ninga Turtle action figures, dinosaur toys, and other toys all over the room. There are sports pictures and a tank with dessert decorations inside for a lizard. Of course, there is a bed and a dresser in the room. There are two windows from which you can see the front yard. This room belongs to my six-year-old brother. To your left is a small space with a wall and a bathroom behind it. It is a good size bathroom with ocean decorations. If you take a couple steps forward and stop, to your left is the laundry room, and to your right is a closet where we put our towels and washcloths. In front of you is a gray room above the garage with a wooden full-size bed with a bunch of books stored in it. There is also a white vanity with lots of hair and make-up utensils. In the room, also is a big, dark, wooden dresser with Harry Potter decorations on top of it. There is also a tank (not desert themed this time) with a different lizard of the same kind in it. Most of the time, this room is clean and tidy. This room is mine. It was originally supposed to be an office, but we needed it to be a bedroom instead. If you go out of my room, and look straight, you will see the stairs on the left and a hallway on the right. If you go down the hallway and turn left, you will enter my nine-year-old sister’s room. This room has white rim on the ground and in the middle of the wall, going horizontally across the wall. Below the rim is painted pink and above the rim is painted green. She has a big closet, a bed, a dresser, a desk, and lots of shelves and drawers for books and toys. If you walk out of her room and turn to the left, you will see a big, light blue room with paintings, pictures and books. There is a king-size bed, a nice TV, a big bathroom, and more. This is my parents’ room. Next, I will move to the basement.

            Finally, I will give you a tour of the basement. When you first get down the stairs, you are in a big room with lots of lights on the ceiling and the walls. In front of you is an old dining room table with LEGO buildings on it. We call this “the LEGO table”, which is a pretty obvious name for it. To your left is a huge Barbie house with lots of other smaller Barbie buildings, cars, clothes, animals, food, tools, shoes, other items, and even a huge container of Barbies themselves. The shoes and hats are in their own drawers and there are three more drawers filled with clothes. All the other, smaller items are in a large bin, on top of the barbie one. The cars and other buildings are lined up next to the wall. We mostly play Barbies, so we have lots of Barbies and Barbie things. To your right is our “stage”, which is just where we keep our guitars, piano, microphone, drum set, and other instruments. If you turn right, take a couple steps, and turn right again, you will be facing the storage room, which is where we keep some of the things that we don’t have anywhere else to put them. If you turn left, take a couple steps, and turn left again, you will find yourself facing a short hallway. In the middle of the hallway is a bathroom. At the end of the hallway is a guestroom which is also where we store some games and costumes. We love playing in our basement, and we are usually either down there or outside.

            As I already said, I love my house. It is the perfect home for my family. It helps open our imaginations and we can play so many things we would have never even thought of playing at our old house. Of course, there are some things I miss at my old house, but they are replaced by new things here. As always, I loved writing this essay, and I cannot wait to see what I will be writing about next week.
