Spain
This week, I was supposed to write an essay about a country besides my own. This was difficult, but I finally came to the decision of Spain. I will talk about the geography of Spain, as well as the animals, the food, the entertainment, the language, the religion, and more.
First, Spain contains mountain ranges such as Sierra Nevada, Pyrenees, Montserrat, Picos de Europa, Sierra de Graz Alema, Sierra Blanca, Sierra de Grados, Sierra Madrona, and Sierra de Tramontana. Spain also has plateaus and rivers. As well as almost every country, Spain has animals. There are lots of fish and birds, as well as brown bears, wolves, and other mammals. Spain contains around 50,000 to 60,000 animal species, and most of them are invertebrates.
This country also contains many delicious meals and snacks. Some meals that I have heard are “a favorite” are Gazpacho, Paella, Tortilla Española, Gambas al ajillo, Tostas de tometa y jamon, Patatas bravas, Pollo al ajillo, Cochinillo asado, Pisto, and Turron. If you look up pictures of these foods, you will find that they all look and sound delicious.
Rome is known for gladiators, the United States of America usually watches sports for entertainment, but Spain is known for bulls. When I say bulls, I mean “the running to the bulls”, bullfighting, and more. However, the running of the bulls is not popular anymore and no one does it. There are also many festivals in Spain. I have heard that within at least one festival, they have pretty polka-dot dresses. Spain is also known for soccer, which they call futbol.
As you know, the people of Spain speak Spanish, however, different parts of Spain speak different types of Spanish. The types of Spanish are, Castilian, Catalan, Galician, Basque, and Aranese. The way the Spanish is spoken is slightly different from the other ways. It is like English. Some people from different parts of the world all speak English, but some people may have accents and others may not.
Lastly, most Spaniards identify themselves as Roman Catholic, but Catholicism has not been the national religion for many years. Much of the population does not practice any religion at all, even though they claim to be part of a religion, like Catholicism or Islam.
I find Spain interesting, and I want to learn all I can about it all the time. It was fun researching about the mountains, and the other geography and animals in this county. Learning about entertainment was also exciting, but I especially loved researching about the food and looking at pictures of all the delicious foods they eat. I really loved writing this essay, and I can’t wait to keep researching and learning more about the world.
