If I Was Shipwrecked on a Deserted Island, What Two Tools Would I Want to Have?

I am reading the book Robinson Crusoe, in which case the main character (Robinson Crusoe) is shipwrecked on a deserted island and has to fend for himself. For my writing assignment this week, I got to choose two tools that could fit on a ship, that could help me survive on a deserted island. I chose a flint rock, and a Swiss army knife.

Building a fire may be essential to survive on an island. Having a fire would help me to stay warm, cook food, boil water to clean it, scare off predators, and much more. Also, a flint rock can’t run out like matches or a lighter will, so I will be able to use it the entire time I am on the island. All I would have to do is get some dry leaves, sticks, grass et cetera (pretty much whatever I have there), and scrape my knife against the flint rock over the dry earth. Then I would have a fire.

A Swiss army knife would also be very useful on an island for many reasons. First, it could help me make a fire, with the flint rock. Next, it can help me hunt. It can also help me build, by using the knife to cut down trees. These reasons are for just the knife part, and with all the other tools on the knife, I could do so many more things. For example, it could help me build.

It took some thinking to choose just two tools that I might need, but with what I have chosen, I think that I could have a chance at surviving on my own on a deserted island, at least for a while. I am very glad I don’t actually have to do this, but the book is very interesting so far. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and survival.
