My Final 6th Grade History Essay
I learned about many things this year in history. In this essay, I will talk about them all. I will also share which thing was my favorite to learn about.
I started this year off by learning about the creation. Then I took a “world tour” focusing on how the world was around that time. After the world tour, I looked at Judea (Around Abraham).
Next, I learned about Ancient Egypt. I learned about the dynasties first, then I looked at religion, mummification, status, and Egyptian culture. I also learned about Egyptian inventions, pyramids, family life, clothes, and the life of children. I also focused a bit about the Egyptian Empire.
After Egypt, I studied Moses and the ten plagues all the way to Solomon. I also learned about how Israel became more and more disobedient to God throughout the years. Then I studied the kings of Israel and Judah to the fall of Israel and Judah. I also learned about the prophets of Israel.
Then I moved to Greece to study. I first learned about some ancient poets and their tales. I did a lesson on the founding of Rome, then I went back to Greece and learned about the government, entertainment, family life, religion, Mythology, art, scientists and mathematicians, and Olympics in Ancient Greece.
Next, I learned about Persia. I learned about the kings of Persia (including Queen Esther), and the Persian Empire. I also learned about the Persian and Peloponnesian Wars, and the Corinthian war. Then I studied Philip II of Macedon, Alexander the Great, and what happened to the Empire after him.
What happened after Alexander the Great? Well, I learned about that too. Greece, Persia, and any other part of Alexander the Great’s empire. Rome, however, was not an empire just yet.
I learned about the early kings of Rome, like Romulus and Numa Pompilius.
I also learned about the Roman Republic, religion, and games. I studied Rome’s early wars and the Roman military, Senate, and Legal system.
Still in Rome, I learned about Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Augustus Caesar, and Tiberius Caesar.
Then I took a week and learned about Jesus Christ. I learned about when He was born and young, to when He was crucified. I studied a little bit about the ministry of Jesus and the lessons He taught us here on Earth. Of course, after learning about His crucifixion, I studied His resurrection.
After Jesus, I went back to Rome learning more about the Roman Empire. The empire had started during and after the reign of Augustus Caesar. I learned a little bit about the last emperors of Rome along with Pompeii. I also learned about the fashion, hospitality, status, science, family, and homes in Rome. Then the fall of Rome and Constantine the Great.
After Rome, I learned about the early church and some of the early church fathers. I briefly studied about what happened to the twelve disciples (apostles) after Jesus.
I finished off this year by taking another world tour, this time looking over the world as it is after the years we went through.
My favorite thing I learned about this year was probably Ancient Greece. I loved learning about the Olympics and the mythology of Greece. Also, studying the poets and what they wrote was fun.
This was a very fun history class. Until I did this class, I never liked history very much, now I love it. I am so excited to take the seventh-grade history course next year and learn so much more!
