Week 8 History Essay
What Happens When You Disobey God?
If you read through the Bible, you will find that there are many people who obey God and do His will. However, there are also many people who do not obey Him. The Bible also shows what God does to those who do not do what He wants as well.
I believe that God is real and that He created everything; therefore, I believe that He can also do anything. God also gave us something that no one else has, the ability to choose. If God tells us to do something, we can choose whether we want to do it or not. I personally think we should because one, He is always right, and two, because I would be scared, for He can do anything He wants to do to me and/or us.
What I mean is that the Lord can punish us in any way. In Exodus, for example, people get burnt alive, swallowed by the earth, torched, and killed in many other ways because they did not obey God, or they turned against Him. There were about two million people that came out of Egypt, and God ended up having to kill thousands of them. it may not sound like much next to 2,000,000, but by itself, “thousands” is a lot.
However, God is gracious and merciful, so when people want something or are complaining about something God will usually give them it. Most of the time, He will still punish people for not doing His will, but since He is still, and will always be good, the Lord still gives us what we desire.
Altogether, we should obey God, because it is the right thing to do. Everyone was made for a reason, for a special purpose. God tells us what to do and we should obey. The Lord loves us; therefore, we are not in charge, He is.
