What did I learn? What surprised me? What do I plan on making next?
This week, I learned about herbs, spices, and methods of heating and cooking food. I was surprised by the number of spices and herbs first found in America. These findings made monumental impacts on the world. They included chocolate, vanilla, chili peppers, and allspice. When it came time to complete the fried egg project, I was surprised by how delicious the fried eggs tasted. In fact, they were so good I made two of them for breakfast. I plan on making many amazing foods using the cooking methods I have learned. I also will make some of the foods I have already made throughout this course, like fried eggs, potato chips, and sliced baked potatoes. The sliced baked potatoes, especially, were my family’s favorite. Understanding food science is exciting and a significant part of learning how to take care of myself. I cannot wait to learn about more dishes, and how they are prepared.
