Week 36 Summary Essay
Apparently, this last week wasn’t about more inventions. It wasn’t about inventors either. Instead, I learned more about patents and ancient countries and civilizations, such as Ancient Egypt, Rome, China, and Greece. But right now, I am going to tell you two of three of what my favorite inventions were throughout this course, and what I think is important to know about these inventions.
The first invention that I really liked was earmuffs. I like this invention because it keeps people from getting frostbite on their ears. I also like it because its inventor, Chester Greenwood, was fifteen when he invented them; it shows that anyone can invent anything, no matter how old they are. For another example, the popsicle was invented by accident, by a kid of about ten years old!
The second invention that was one of my favorites was roller-skates. I like them because it shows that you don’t have to invent something that is not used very often. You can invent ANYTHING, whether it is fun like roller-skates, or tiny such as transistors, and I think that that is cool.
The last invention that I thought was cool was the laser, and I like it for a couple reasons. One is that you can do so many different experiments with lasers. Another reason is that they are easy to make. All you need are small mirrors and pieces (not broken pieces) of see-through glass and the sun’s light to do it. I think it shows that you can use inventions to do certain things or to invent other things; inventions make other inventions.
These were some of the inventions that I found most interesting throughout this course. I think that they show things that inventors and people should know in order to invent something. For examples, I think that earmuffs show that you can invent anything, no matter how old you are, and I think roller-skates show that you can invent anything. Finally, I think that the laser shows that you can use other things that have already been invented to make your own creation.
